The Lunar Eclipse Was a Great Show Courtesy of the Lord!

On Sunday, September 27, 2015 I had the joy and privilege to witness the full lunar eclipse (Also called "Blood Moon"). We had mostly cloudy skies, but felt blessed to have the enough breaks in the clouds to captures the images shown below.  Click here to see the photo album.

A "Blood Moon" is a Lunar Eclipse

There's been a lot of talk about four so called "Blood Moons" (i.e. lunar eclipse) happening during the Jewish Shemitah year as being a harbinger of judgment and so forth. Five important points to remember:
1. We walk by faith according to grace, not by sight/signs.
2. Jesus (the Authority on ALL things) said, "Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign." (Matt 12:39) He said they (evil generation) would be given THE SAME SIGN THAT WAS GIVEN TO JONAH." (Repent!)
3. The Apostle Paul wrote, "Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts." (1 Cor. 4:5)
4. The Shemitah ended on September 13 and there is still one "blood moon" left, so their predictions have failed (again).
5. Folk better stay focused on the "Author" and "Finisher" of our faith, JESUS, and let go of all these spurious and religious notions from a previous dispensation!
Hebrew 1:1-2, "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has IN THESE LAST DAYS spoken to us by His Son..."
When the moon turns red, AND STAYS THAT WAY (and not go back to white/grey in 20 minutes after passing out of the earth's shadow), THAT will be the real deal!
Say Amen!

The Best Version of You

Ephesians 4:20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Reading the text above makes me ask the question: “Am I the best version of myself?” It is an odd question, but it is entirely appropriate in light our greater potential. Life is lived on many levels, from social, to professional, to physical, to marital, to financial, to spiritual, and more.
On every level, it is necessary to avoid complacency and separate our “lesser self” from unnecessary or ungodly behaviors. The standard for a better life is recognizing the things we “have been taught by Him (Jesus).” In this letter to Christians, the Apostle Paul summarized the spiritual growth process as “putting off” and “putting on.” It is interesting that Paul acknowledge the fact that Christians may still need to discard “former conduct.”
The three keys to this process are:
1) Be renewed in the spirit (or attitude) of the mind.
2) Put off the “old man.”
3) Put on the “new man,” which is what we can call the “new you.”

These are simple steps, but this is not something we can do in our own strength. As the text says we are doing what we have "learned from Christ." This is the value of our time in personal devotions, in Bible studies, and receiving the word of God from our pastors and teachers.

The Day

Psalm 138:3,  In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.
It is interesting that difficulty can make believers timid and hesitant to take action. Sometimes we are slow to talk to God. Some people shut down.
But when His people finally "cry out" to Him in faith, He fills them with boldness and strength!
This can be "the day!" made me bold with strength in my soul.
