Sing a New Song! – A Quick Word of Encouragement for You
Psalms 96:1 Oh, sing to the Lord a new song!
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
3 Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all peoples.
4 For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;
He is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
But the Lord made the heavens.
6 Honor and majesty are before Him;
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

This Scripture text is part of the group of "enthronement psalms" (Psalms 93–100) that emphasize the Lord as King. Psalms 94-96 are a mixture of worship and pronouncements of judgment.
"New Song" is a term that appears throughout the Psalms of David. It signifies FRESH PRAISE springing from reflecting on God's mercies and His mighty acts. "New Song" speaks of worship that is renewed, vibrant, and responsive to God’s ongoing works. In times of turmoil, like our times, fresh praise is essential!
You only need to think about what God has done, the mercy you have received, and the benefits provided by Jesus! Your response to this is your "New Song."
David wrote, "For all the gods of the peoples are idols." Part of the reason we worship is to keep our hearts and minds clear of idols. An idol is anything (object, person, idea, or desire) that takes the place of God in our hearts.
Not even believers are immune to being distracted by idols. Be mindful of the things that capture your attention or cause you to look away from God's Word, from your godly commitments such as serving, giving, and living in agreement with your covenant community (local church).
